Words of Light Campaign

Vodafone, Aldi & Meagher’s Pharmacy light up the Mater at Christmas

In the run-up to Christmas 2020, at the height of the COVID pandemic, we asked the nation to help us light up the Mater Hospital with Christmas Words of Light messages for all those who couldn’t be at home with their loved ones or families.

These uplifting messages of support and solidarity from the nation were projected seven storeys high on the front wall of the Mater Hospital.

Three leading Irish brands got behind this high profile initiative which helped to bring comfort to people and patients from all over Ireland. Messages of support from Vodafone, Aldi Ireland and Meagher’s Pharmacy Group featured regular rotation on the display.

Some of Ireland’s best loved artists, including U2, Nathan Carter and Imelda May even shared their Words of Light too in support of the campaign. The campaign achieved nationwide radio, press, TV and coverage with an estimated reach of 4.5 million* *Source: Red Flag

This special initiative raised vital funds from businesses and the general public to help expand the Mater’s emergency department, enhance stroke care, and improve breast cancer care.

Sponsorship and involvement from these key brands amplified this important campaign, raised vital funds to help critically ill patients, and highlighted their brands’ support for our doctors, nurses and patients in a very meaningful way.
