The Dickie Dip
On the day details

Your morning
8.30/8:45am–10:45am | Sign in
Head to Skerries Sailing Club on Harbour Road, where you’ll sign in and collect your wristband. You’ll need your wristband to access the beach.
There’ll be a bag drop available and changing facilities at the Sailing Club. With so many Dippers joining us, these will be busy, so come down early if you can.
Then enjoy the build-up.
Have a chat. Meet your fellow Dippers. Grab a tea or coffee at Goat in the Boat (free to Dippers with the wristband). Soak up the atmosphere.
The Dip
Around 11am | We Dip
Once everyone is ready, we’ll make our way together from the Sailing Club towards the beach.
We’ll gather on the beach, join together for Ireland’s Call, and then it’s time to take the plunge for men’s cancer care. The exact Dip timing remains subject to the tide and conditions.
You’ll only be at the beach for a short period, with approximately 5-10 mins maximum planned in the sea. Please listen to the MC, stewards and event team at all times.
After the Dip
Get yourself dried off and back into something warm.
Then head back towards the Sailing Club, catch up with the lads and enjoy that well-earned feeling of having actually done it.
And yes, there’ll be that warming drop of Teeling Whiskey waiting as part of the post-Dip celebrations.
🎀 What to bring
✅ Your Dickie Bow (Unless collecting it on the day)
✅ A large towel
✅ Warm, dry clothes for afterwards
✅ Trainers or suitable footwear
✅ A dryrobe, fleece, windbreaker or waterproof layer
✅ A hat is a very good idea too
Given the November weather, we’d generally recommend crocs or runners rather than flip-flops for the walk to the Dip area.
🚗 Getting there
Driving?
The main public parking is at Red Island Car Park, 2 Red Island, Town Parks, Skerries, K34 YR76. It’s approximately a 3–4 minute walk from the event changing area. Other public parking is also available around South Strand.
Train?
Skerries Train Station is approximately a 20-minute walk from the Sailing Club. Please check the latest timetable before travelling. The 9.18 train from Connolly is probably the latest one to get you there on time.
Bus?
The 33 bus serves Skerries from Dublin city centre. The Skerries town-centre stop is approximately a 4-minute walk from the event area.
Whatever way you’re travelling, give yourself plenty of time and come down early if you can.
💙 One last thing...
Behind all the craic, camaraderie and Dickie Bows is the reason we’re doing this.
You are standing shoulder-to-shoulder with men facing cancer and the families beside them.
Every conversation you’ve started, every donation you’ve raised and every person you’ve encouraged to think differently about their health matters.
That’s what this community has achieved.
And now we finally get to bring you all together.
Can’t wait to see you on the Beach.
Together for Men’s Cancer Care.
