Dickie Dip FAQs
The Dickie Dip, taking place in Skerries on Saturday, 8th November, is an all-male, life-affirming, skinny-dip fundraiser for Men’s Cancer Care at the Mater Public Hospital.
Participants brave the Irish Sea for a quick dip wearing only a dickie bow.
No, there is no registration fee. Instead, we ask all participants to raise money for patient care.
You can, of course, always donate to your own fundraising page along with anything you raise from family, friends and work colleagues.
Not able to dip but still want to be part of The Dickie Dip this year and make a difference for men’s cancer care?
No, there is no strict minimum amount to fundraise for the Dickie Dip. Instead, you’ll be asked to set a target of at least €100 for your fundraiser and to promote your fundraising page to your friends and family.
If you don’t reach your target, you’ll still be able to participate in the event and raise awareness. But any funds you can raise will really help… as this year we are aiming to raise an ambitious €140,000 to support men’s cancer care!
You can keep up to date with news and information about the Dickie Dip by joining our Facebook group! The location of the beach in Skerries will only be disclosed to people who register.
There will be parking facilities, bathroom facilities, and a hot drink to warm you up after your dip. There are also plenty of shops, cafés, bars and restaurants nearby should you wish to spend the day in Skerries afterwards.
The event itself is men only, but we will take all the help we can get to raise funds for men’s cancer care!

Funds raised will go toward state-of-the-art men’s cancer care in the Mater Public Hospital, so we can speed up cancer diagnosis and provide the best in treatment for the men from all over Ireland who come through our doors.
This is our sixth Dickie Dip, and the event will continue to help improve men’s cancer care in the Mater Public Hospital by raising awareness and funding equipment.
