There’s still time to sign up to join Radio Nova’s PJ Gallagher and Jim McCabe for The Dickie Dip for men’s cancer care

With just over a week to go to dip, there is still time to sign up and dip in nothing but a dickie bow and a smile to support men's cancer care in the Mater Hospital.

Radio Nova’s PJ Gallagher and Jim McCabe are back to take on The Dickie Dip in 2025 and are rallying the troops to join them in Skerries on Saturday, 8th November 2025.

Famous on the airwaves, the Morning Glory presenters are returning to hit the regular waves once again at this year’s Dickie Dip supporting men’s cancer care.

Do you dare to be cold and bold for men’s cancer care in the Mater Hospital?

Visit www.materfoundation.ie/dickiedip to sign up and start fundraising today!

Become a Dipper

Meet a few of our Dickie Dippers and learn why they are taking part in the life-affirming, skinny-dip fundraiser. You can meet them on the day out in Skerries and run into the water together for a memorable experience!

This is Frank:

“Sure, there’s a laugh and a joke about it, absolutely, but until you do it, you will never realise the sheer, raw emotion that’s involved. It’s a brilliant emotion. It’s the pride of being able to pass on those ‘one mores’ to other people. It’s the pride of knowing that these people would be proud seeing the difference that everyone who does the Dickie Dip makes. It’s carrying on their legacy. It’s keeping them alive.” – Frank, third-time dipper, taking part in honour of family members affected by cancer

He continues, “Doing the Dip might give someone one more day with their father, one more week, one more wheelchair ride outside.

“For myself and many others, we no longer have the ‘one mores’ with our family members or friends that have passed. It’s a joy to be able to give that to other people.

“I urge anyone and everyone, give it a go. If you do one thing to support the Mater or remember loved ones, I recommend it be the Dip. It is truly a life changing experience.”

Meet Ronnie:

“Last October I got a diagnosis of prostate cancer. It was obviously a difficult time dealing with that news and I felt I had no other choice but to try to turn a negative situation into a positive one. Then along came the Dickie Dip. The perfect opportunity to give something back to all the staff who looked after me.” – Ronnie, Mater patient and Dipper

He adds, “I had the honour of meeting over 400 likeminded gents on that chilly damp Saturday morning, we sang, danced, and drank copious amounts of coffee. We disrobed on the Skerries beach, and we all charged like crazed warriors heading into battle which turned out to be the icy cold Irish Sea. It was exhilarating, it was fun, it was a life affirming experience, it was membership into a brotherhood who can proudly call themselves Dippers…and it was absolutely Baltic! I can’t wait to do it again.”

Say hello to Tom:

“What would my Dad think? Well, he’d definitely tell us we are mad fools to be charging into the sea at that time of year, but he’d be pleased as punch that his memory is helping others.” – Tom, a Mater Hospital Foundation team member and first-time dipper.

He continues, “As I’ve found out from so many since his passing, he was always one to offer to help. And now we can make sure he continues to do so after he’s left us, which seems a fitting legacy.”

Meet Tosh:

“After a stressful series of tests, I recently got my two-year all clear. Significant because that 2-year window is typically when my cancer would re-occur and it hasn’t! I’ve passed that milestone. And, together with a group of friends, we’re going to take on the Dickie Dip to celebrate – why?

“Because, it’s about the freedom of being alive and being able to do something silly; it’s about being proud of my body and it’s scars; it’s about supporting others going through the battles I’ve faced; it’s about sharing the compassion and support that was given to me and… it takes things full circle from that initial skinny dip in the Dublin Mountains before my treatment to where I am now. It really is life-affirming and I’d encourage any of ye who can to take part.” – Tosh, cancer survivor and Dipper.

You can read Tosh’s full story here.

What are you waiting for? Join Frank, Ronnie, Tom and Tosh on 8th November in Skerries and support men’s cancer care for an incredible cause, with incredible men.
