Accessibility Statement

This accessibility statement applies to content published on this site only: https://www.materfoundation.ie.
Statement of commitment
Mater Hospital Foundation is committed to making this website accessible to the widest possible audience, regardless of technology or ability.
The pages on this website are built to comply with Level AA of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) version 2.2.
Compliance status
This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 Level AA, due to the non-accessible content listed below.
Non-accessible content
Some content on this website is not fully accessible due to the following reasons:
1. Images: Images are implemented using
elements instead of semantic tags, which is not standard practice. This makes them inaccessible to assistive technologies. Furthermore, images on this website are missing alternative text. We are working to address identified issues.
2. Links: Some links on this website are not descriptive, are empty, or rely on colour alone to differentiate from text. Therefore, the purpose of each link may not be determined from the link text alone. In addition, some links rely on colour alone to differentiate from reading text making it difficult for some users to identify them as links. We are working to address identified issues.
3. Headings: Some pages are missing headings, heading levels have been skipped or headings are empty which may cause difficulty navigating and understanding the site. We are working to address identified issues.
4. Keyboard Accessibility: Some elements on this site are not keyboard accessible, or the focus is not visible when they are in focus. Users relying on keyboard navigation may struggle to navigate and interact with the site. We are working to address identified issues.
5. Colour Contrast: Some of the colours used on this site do not meet the contrast ratio required for accessible colours for text and background. Site users with low vision or colour perception difficulty may struggle to see the text and graphic objects that are set in these colours. We are working to address identified issues.
6. Embedded third-party content: The website includes some instances of content embedded from third party platforms. A third-party platform FundraiseUp is used for donations. We are aware of some accessibility issues on this platform such as:
- The focus order is in a sequence that might cause some users of assistive technology to miss content further up in the section.
The Mater Hospital Foundation currently has no ability to rectify accessibility issues contained within the iframes of third-party platforms but will try to raise identified issues with the platforms where possible.
7. PDFs: Some PDF documents may not be fully accessible where they are not essential for administrative processes. We are working to address identified issues.
8. Forms: Some form elements and controls do not have associated labels which may cause difficulty navigating and filling in the forms or interacting with certain features of the site.
Our staff are reviewing and improving the accessibility of content on the website on an ongoing basis.
Please contact communications@materfoundation.ie if you encounter an issue not listed above.
