Sometimes the little things are everything
Every day the medical social work team meet patients and families from around the country who are in crisis as a result of their hospital stay. Admission to hospital can lead to unexpected financial strain which adds additional stress at an already very distressing time.
The Foundation established the Helping Hand Fund to allow social workers provide immediate financial assistance for basic costs such as travel, food, and accommodation. This makes a significant difference in the lives of patients and their families, ensuring they get the care and support they need and can be together when it matters most, including after major trauma and at end of life.
