How an Irish building firm transformed care for transplant patients
Following his experience with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis and a double lung transplant in the Mater Public Hospital, Mick Cosgrave of Cosgrave Developments created a Christmas fundraising appeal to help equip isolation rooms in the heart and lung transplant unit with vital equipment.
Mick asked partners and organisations in the property industry to consider donating to the fundraiser in lieu of Christmas gifts to Cosgraves and their team.
The appeal was a huge success, raising in excess of €270,000 in 2021 making a truly life-changing impact for transplant patients.
So successful was the appeal that Mick decided to hold another fundraising appeal in 2022, to help raise vital funds for new ventilators for the Mater’s Intensive Care Unit, raising a further €65,000 to help patients fighting for their every breath.
