A spinal cord injury can happen in an instant, to anyone.

A road accident, a fall, a farming accident, a moment of ordinary life that suddenly changes everything.

In the latest edition of Heart of the Mater, you will meet OT Amber and her patient, Anne. Anne was diagnosed with spinal scoliosis in her 60’s and had three spinal surgeries in less than three months. 

A small fall after one of her surgeries left Anne without sensation in her legs, and suddenly she faced the daunting challenge of learning how to navigate life in a wheelchair.

Thanks to our donors, Anne is rebuilding her independence surrounded by a dedicated team. She shares, “I wouldn’t have come anywhere else. This is the place for spinal surgery. I knew I was in good hands.”
