450 brave men – a band of brothers, charged into the chilly sea on November 8th in nothing but a dickie bow and a smile, all to raise vital support for men’s cancer care in the Mater Hospital.
Marking its 6th year, the Dip has become a beacon for brotherhood, camaraderie, good craic and sharing the vital message for men to be cancer aware.
We are simply blown away by the dedication and determination of our dippers, and the generosity of their supporters, with more than €147,000 raised this year to date, and counting! These efforts will make a real, tangible difference to patients and their families.
Thanks to the support of our amazing dippers, we can continue to invest in equipment and supports that make a life-changing and, often, life-saving difference to those experiencing a cancer diagnosis. In recent years, we have funded robotic precision surgery, chemotherapy care supports and an information project to aid patients pre, during and post-operation. These are just a few of examples of where funds raised from the Dickie Dip have gone to directly help support patients and their families in the Mater Hospital.
On behalf of the Mater Hospital Foundation, we would like to thank every dipper and everyone who supported them for raising awareness and vital funds to support men’s cancer care in the Mater Hospital.
On the day, the water may have been cold, but the hearts were warm. We’re proud to be a part of something so special that brings together our supporters and the local community with the goal of ensuring exceptional care is always there, for everyone.
