Grant awarded of €128,567 since 2004
The Mater Foundation made a grant of €128,567.00 available to the Spinal Injuries Unit of the Mater Misericordiae Hospital to upgrade equipment in their Theatre.
The grant was used to purchase much needed spinal instruments, a cervical spinal surgical retractor, a head-light and a high-speed burr system. Several highly specialised pieces of equipment were purchased which allowed some of the most complex spinal surgery in the country to be performed in the Mater Hospital. The funding has also helped improve patient safety and allowed more efficient utilization of theatre time.
The Mater Foundation grant really made a massive contribution to upgrading and modernising the spinal surgical service.
