Day ward for the older person

The new Day Ward for the Older Person opened in January 2005 with the support of a significant grant from the Mater Foundation.
The Day Ward comprises a large comfortable patient waiting area, four consulting suites, three doctors' offices which also double as consulting rooms (thereby allowing seven patients to be reviewed simultaneously), a nursing station, clinical nurse manager's office, social work office, reception area and large secretarial support office. There were almost 5,000 attendances at the Day Ward in 2005 prior to the opening of the new facilities.
Patients and their relatives are very pleased with the facilities that are of the same standard as a private clinic and allow older frail patients to be assessed in comfort and in privacy.
